The FBI called Sacramento, California a "hub of human/child trafficking." As mentioned above, the Sacramento Police currently wastes money and police time enforcing an inhumane and unconstitutional 'no camping ordinance.' I say it is time to repeal the ordinance and free up Police time and resources to investigate real crimes such as the child trafficking running rampant in California. As stated in the FBI Archives, "The average age of a child targeted for prostitution in the United States is between 11 and 14 years old. " These are our children, too young to know how to protect themselves. It is our job as parents, advocates, neighbors, and humanitarians to demand that these children be protected. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reports "Of the more than 18,500 endangered runaways reported to NCMEC in 2016, one in six were likely victims of child sex trafficking." One in Six... and "Of those, 86 percent were in the care of SOCIAL SERVICES when they went missing." It is time we hold our police force, state, FBI and federal government accountable for the protection and recovery of these children. It is time we, as parents, demand change for our children, the future.
As of 2016, the California Department of Justice reports that an average of over 87,000 children have gone missing every year for the last 5 years. That is staggering. That is unacceptable. What's more, the district attorney's presentation to the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors Final Budget Hearing on June 13th, 2017, devoted an amount of less than $100,000 to the investigation of human trafficking. According to a Sac PD officer I have spoken to, the police force in the city of Sacramento has only two investigators working on the trafficking. The victims of this trafficking epidemic deserve a full investigation with citizen oversight! This issue goes deeper and darker than most care to imagine. The books below delve deeper into this dark topic. We the People need to be unified. If we can unite around anything, it's the safety of OUR children.
